Phantom Justice - A Crime Novel

Filed under: Law and Justice — Tags: — cwforres @ 5:41 am

This introduces Phantom Justice and the concept presented - A Crime Novel to be published sometime in the fall of 2008.

Can vigilantism be justified on a national basis? It can be said that there is a basic minimum of individual rights of its citizens that States must protect if their subjects are to owe the State obedience to law. What if, however, our ‘Nation of Laws’ miserably fails to administer justice in the name of law, making a mockery of our judicial systems and making the victims of crime simple collateral damage? Might this foster an organized effort by citizens to balance the scales?

  2. While sometimes it appears the only justice goes to repeat offenders, widespread vigilantism is a frightening concept…and who decides which group of vigilantes carrying out their paticular concepts of justice will deliver justice fair to all? There are too many groups who would love to carry out justice….as they see it.

Who metes out justice to the vigilante justice givers???

  3. Right you are, on all points. Widespread law-enforcement is not usually scary in the scenario of serial killers and pedophiles. But vigilantism is if delivered to the same offenders? Perhaps the problem resides in our courts failing to deliver justice for a myriad of reasons anchored in law. Lady Justice with her blinders on is not required to also be deaf and dumb to the victims of the worst criminals in our society.

To be fair and equal, justice should be superimposed on law and when that fails, the good citizens of our country should endeavor to change our laws. What are our options?
